Sound Systems from Inventory
A note about groups playing music for parties in rooms with installed sound systems:
- Use the sound system’s channel volume and Master volume to adjust the volumes of the rooms TO A LOUD BUT COMFORTABLE LEVEL.
- After making this adjustment do not turn up the volume any louder because music at overly loud volumes over an installed sound system:
- May disturb other nearby events,
- Will begin to sound like it’s breathing (and not sound right) because the compressor, limiter, and auto-mixing features of the sound system will be trying to do their job, and
- Can cause damage to the speakers and require them to be replaced. We need to not break things if we can help it.
To connect a smartphone or iPod to a sound system other than Ballroom 1 (or the Hideaway IMP station), you need:
- A stereo 3.5mm to dual male 1/4" cable
- A dual female 1/4" to a mono 1/4" adapter
- A DI box
- A 25ft mic cable
- Connect a male stereo 3.5mm connecton of a stereo 3.5mm to dual male 1/4" cable to the headphone jack of device.
- Connect the male mono 1/4" connections of the stereo 3.5mm to dual male 1/4" cable to the dual mono 1/4" connections of a dual female 1/4" to a mono 1/4" adapter.
- Connect the adapter to the INPUT of a DI box.
- Connect the DI box OUTPUT to the XLR (mic) INPUT of the sound system.
