Author names (student first, mentor last) and affiliations

Abstract (one paragraph that summarizes the research and findings; generally less than 500 words)

Introduction (informative background material regarding the organism, medical importance, the specific problem you are investigating and your hypothesis)

Materials and Methods (reagents and techniques you have employed to perform your research)

Results (only the applicable results/data you have obtained; do not include explanations or discussion material here)

Discussion (summary of your results and a through discussion of what the results reveal. Discuss implications and future directions as well)

References {listed alphabetically; format should be author(s), date, title, journal/book name, volume(issue):pages}
