Research - Ultra-cold Atoms
In association with Penn State, we are developing intense atomic beam collimators for alkali metals (Li-7 and Rb-87).
With the National Institute of Standards and Technology, we are developing both one dimensional and two dimensional accordion optical lattices.
We are in the process of building an ultra-cold atomic lab in the basement of the Hartline Science Center. Our first goal is the creation of a rubidium-87 magneto-optical trap.
