SLED (Students Linked to the Education of the Deaf)

S.L.E.D. - Money Raised for Camp HEROStudents Linked to the Education of the Deaf (SLED) welcomes all students interested in working with and learning about individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Our goal is to raise money to send children and youth with a hearing loss to Camp HERO (Here Everyone Really is One) — a philosophy we have adopted as a campus organization.

SLED meetings are typically held at 7PM the 2nd Thursday of every month while classes are in session in the Kehr Union multipurpose room 345 B. Deaf culture, ASL, becoming a teacher of deaf children, and previous Camp HERO experiences are some of the topics discussed at the meetings.

The main purpose of SLED is to raise money for camp scholarships for Camp HERO so children who otherwise could not afford to attend the camp will be able to go. We always have T-shirts for sale - contact us at Sled.bu@gmail.com.

Dunk Tank Photo

SLED has two major fundraisers. One in which students can drop off their empty ink catridges in specially marked boxes on campus. The other fundraiser is a dunk tank in the Renaissance Jamboree in downtown Bloomsburg. Faculty and students will take turns being dunked to raise money for Camp HERO.
