Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Kokoska received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his MS and Ph.D. from The University of New Hampshire. His research interests include the statistical analysis of cancer chemoprevention experiments. This work involves the development of mathematical models and innovative statistical methods to evaluate cancer inhibiting or enhancing substances. Dr. Kokoska has published a number of research papers in mathematics journals including Biometrics, Anticancer Research, and Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, presented his results at national conferences, written several books, and has been awarded grants from the National Science Foundation, the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, and the Ben Franklin program. He has also worked closely with student interns to provide computer related assistance to local businesses and mathematics enrichment activities for elementary and middle school students.

Dr. Kokoska is a nationally endorsed consultant for The College Board, is the Chief Reader for AP Calculus, and is involved with calculus reform and the use of technology in the classroom. He has written a Lecture Guide and Student Notes to accompany the calculus reform text by Ostebee and Zorn, and several graphing calculator manuals to accompany statistics and precalculus texts. Dr. Kokoska has given numerous presentations on graphing calculators and the Advanced Placement Calculus Test to area high school students and teachers. At Bloomsburg University he usually teaches courses in calculus and statistics, is Director of the Honors Program, regularly works with Mathematica and TeX, and recently had a textbook published by WH Freeman: Introductory Statistics: A Problem Solving Approach.
