about me

I was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. Although I was always good at math, I never considered it as a career. I went to college expecting to pursue a career in law enforcement. I took a calculus class with an exceptional teacher who made me realize that mathematics could be a great career. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics at Bloomsburg University. After Bloomsburg, I attended Virginia Tech and earned a Master of Science degree and Ph.D. in mathematics. Although I went to graduate school expecting to earn advanced degrees and work in industry, my first classroom experiences made me fall in love with teaching. I came back to Bloomsburg University because I enjoyed being a student here.  I consider myself very lucky because I love my job.

I am married to Erin (Stiefel) Inch.  Erin was a professional ballerina who danced for most of her career in Zurich Switzerland. Erin's brother Ethan is also a professional dancer. He dances with American Ballet Theatre (ABT), the premiere company in the United States. He also starred in the movie Center Stage.

Erin and I have a son, Kieran, who was born in 2002. He is six, going on eighteen and is currently obsessed with chess.  We also have a little girl, Allegra, who was born in March 2005.  She never stops talking, moving or imitating her big brother.

We live in Lewisburg with our cat Carrie and a fish named Squirrel (yes, my son has my sense of humor).
