Bibliography form

Your readings lists must use correct bibliography form.

Bibliography form is not the same as endnote form.

Bibliographies are arranged alphabetically, by the authors' last names.

Bibliography entries for books:

~In a bibliography, the author's name is presented last name first, comma, followed by the first name, period.

        Example: 

Wade, Rex.

 

~In a bibliography, the title of the book is italicized and followed by a period.

        Example: 

Wade, Rex.  The Russian Revolution, 1917.

 

~In a bibliography, the publication information is presented in the following form: Place: Press, Date.

        Example:

Wade, Rex.  The Russian Revolution, 1917.  Cambridge:  Cambridge University Press, 2000.

 

 

Bibliography entries for articles:

~In a bibliography, the author's name is presented last name first, comma, followed by the first name, period.

        Example: 

Holquist, Peter.

 

~In a bibliography, the title of an article is in quotation marks and is followed by a period.

        Example: 

Holquist, Peter.  "'Information is the Alpha and Omega of Our Work':  Bolshevik Surveillance in its Pan-European Context."

 

~In a bibliography, the name of the journal, its date, and the pages on which the essay are located appear in the following form:  Journal Name vol.#, issue #:  page numbers.

        Example: 

Holquist, Peter.  "'Information is the Alpha and Omega of Our Work':  Bolshevik Surveillance in its Pan-European Context." Journal of Modern History 69, no. 3:  415-450.

~Note that the title of the article is in quotation marks and the title of the journal is in italics!
