Bloomsburg University Mathematics Placement Test

 

This placement test is a tool for determining the first mathematics class that you should take at Bloomsburg University. Primarily, it indicates if you are ready to take Calculus (Analysis I for most, Essentials of Calculus for others) or would be better served in PreCalculus or College Algebra. It is very important that you DO YOUR BEST and FOLLOW ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS.

 

Directions:

  1. You need to use a computer that has internet access and is connected to a printer.
  2. You may not use a calculator or any reference material, despite the fact that some questions may suggest the use of a calculator.
  3. You must give an answer for each question. Leaving questions blank is not permitted. If you do not know the answer, then guess.
  4. You will be taking the College Level Mathematics Test (25 questions). Some will also take the Algebra Test (17 questions). There is no time limit. Give yourself a block of more than one hour to complete this test.
  5. At the very end you will get a summary sheet of your results. Print out the summary sheet and keep it. It verifies that you have completed the test, and your advisor may want to see it.

 

 

 

Steps:

  1. This test is accessed through a web browser. Before you start, your browser must be set according to the specifications given on the attached page. This should have been done in advance by the proctor.
  2. Go to: http://cpts.accuplacer.com/ and click on the Image.
  3. Enter the ID and Password (obtained from proctor).

    4. Click Login and Continue.

  4. Select "Administer Tests"
  5. The screen should say

    Do not change these settings to anything else. Those are the settings that you need.

  6. Welcome, click CONTINUE.
  7. Accuplacer, click CONTINUE.
  8. Background Information. Fill in all categories except for ID number. Your reference number will be your social security number. Click CONTINUE.
  9. Answer a sequence of background questions over the course of several pages.
  10. About Accuplacer, click CONTINUE
  11. Choosing an answer, click CONTINUE

    15. The directions should be self-explanatory.

  15. Some will also take the ALGEBRA TEST, but not everyone.
  16. When you have completed your required placement testing, you should get a summary page appearing on your screen.
  17. PRINT OUT THE SUMMARY.
