- Go to the Edit menu option. Click on Preferences.
- Change History setting to read "Pages in history expire after 0 days" then click on Clear History.
- In Preferences double click on Advanced. There will be several options to check. Make sure the following list is all activated:
Automatically Load Images

Accept all cookies
Those will be activated if there is a check marked in the checkbox.
- Under the word Advanced, is an option for your Cache settings. Click on Cache.
- Set the Memory Cache value to 0, and the Disk Cache value to 0. This can be done by typing in the numeral 0 in the white box to the immediate right of both options.
- To the right of the box you just used will be a button to Clear the cache. Press the button to clear both Memory and Disk cache options.
- Under those options, there will be a line that reads, "Document in cache is compared to document on network". Set that to ‘Every Time’. Click OK.
- Your configurations are now complete. If you need to get a newer browser version, you can find it at _ HYPERLINK "http://www.netscape.com" __http://www.netscape.com_. A link to their Download section is in the picture near the top – download it and follow the easy installation instructions.
INTERNET EXPLORER USERS – BROWSER CONFIGURATIONS
- Load Internet Explorer browser. You won’t see anything special come up before it fully loads, unlike Netscape. You should use Explorer version 5.0 or above.
- On the menu, go to the option labeled Tools and/or View (dependant on version).
- A list of options will appear under Tools. Click on Internet Options.
- A new window will appear, and near the top there will be several tabs. The first one should read General. Near the middle of that area, there should be a section entitled Temporary Internet Files.
- Click on Delete Files.
- Click on the Settings option in the Internet files section. Another window will pop up.
- There will be a few options there. One option will be "Check for newer version of stored pages" and then a few options under that. Select the first option, which reads, "Every visit to the page."
- Slide "Amount of disk space to use" bar to 1 MB.
- Click on OK. You will be back in the window with the title reading Internet Options.
- In this window, the bottom section will be entitled History. Set the option "Days to keep pages in history" to 0. Then click the Clear History button to the immediate right of the option you just set.
- Now select the tab entitled Advanced. There will be a long list of options that appear in the upper left area that dominates the window.
- The fourth option should read "Automatically check for IE updates". Make sure that is checked. This is an IE 5.0 exclusive option – if your browser doesn’t have the option, then that is fine.
- Down in the Multimedia subsection there should be a "Show Pictures" option. Make sure that is checked as well. Click on OK.
- If you need a newer version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that can be obtained at their home site _ HYPERLINK http://www.microsoft.com __http://www.microsoft.com_. To find out what version you currently have, go to the Help option at the top. The last option there should be About Explorer. Click on this. At the top of the new window, it will read Microsoft Internet Explorer X. The X will be replaced with a version number (as of this writing on 12/8/99, the highest version will be 5). Anything over Internet Explorer 4.0 will work fine, but version 5 works the best.
