Final exam and course grades

This was an enjoyable semester for me, I enjoyed our discussions greatly. I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday season!

The following should be self-explanatory, but just in case… For the final exam, there were seven questions that met my < 30% answered correctly cut off for being a bad item. I ended up adding the equivalent of these seven items, plus another three MC items on to everyone’s score. The essay column is your grade out of the 30 points the essays were worth, the mc correct column is the number of items out of the 53 that you answered correctly Your score on the final expressed as a percentage is in the raw % column, with the 10 items added on in the “w curve” column, following that is the score converted to the 20 point scale that the final was worth.

Att./Part is your attendance/participation grade (out of 15 possible points), remember, this is a combination of both your attendance and level of participation.

Quiz is total points compiled for the quizzes. There were a total of 45 quiz questions during the semester, so 36 would be the 80% criterion, necessary to earn the full 10 points, however, I reduced this to 32 points, thus giving everyone a little boost, in terms of their overall quiz grade..

Total Pts. and Grade are self explanatory.

Please contact me ASAP if you believe there is an error in any of the numbers I have recorded. If someone has the same points as you, but got rounded up to the next higher grade, it is due to exemplary attendance, which is the only instance in which I do any rounding up of grades. Emails simply asking for a higher grade will be deleted without a reply.

It is much easier to make a change in the event of a mistake before the registrar’s office finalizes the grades.
