About Me

So you have chosen to learn a little bit about me. An interesting choice considering all the more productive things you could be doing with your time.

I was raised in Hingham Massachusetts, about 30 minutes south of Boston (on a good day) and graduated from Hingham High School in 2000. I attended Kenyon College in Gambier Ohio for my undergraduate degree and after four years, received a B.A. in Mathematics. After Kenyon, I attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington where I earned a M.A. in mathematics during the spring of 2006. On 13 April 2009, I defended my dissertation, The Generalized Burnside and Representation Rings, the main results of which can be found published in the Rocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics and received my Ph.D. in mathematics from UK that May.

Following graduation, I was married to Emily Rosenbaum at the Halcyon House in Washington, DC. Emily, myself, our daughter Allison, and dog Bexley currently reside in central Pennsylvania where I am enjoying work as a full professor of mathematics at Bloomsburg University. Here I have the opportunity to teach mathematics to bright young scholars and to study interesting mathematics myself. See, even jaded New Englanders can be corny.

Although I think about math all of the time, I do occasionally find time to enjoy a few non-academic activities. Some of these include: reading (especially political science, history, and fantasy), lifting weights, cooking, eating and to just a small degree following the Red Sox and Patriots.
